Two-step verification (2FA)
Protect your account with codes from an authenticator app, and keep your recovery codes somewhere safe.
Two-step verification adds a second check when you sign in with your password: a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Even if someone learns your password, they can't sign in without it.
Turn it on
- Go to Settings → General and find Two-step verification.
- Select Turn on and confirm it's you.
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, or type its setup key. The code works for 10 minutes.
- Enter the 6-digit code the app shows.
- Save your 10 recovery codes somewhere safe.
Two-step verification protects your password, so your account needs one first. Turning it on signs out your other devices.
Recovery codes
Each recovery code works once, in place of a code from your app. Use one if you lose your phone. When you're running low, select Get new codes: the old ones stop working.
Keep recovery codes apart from your password, such as printed and stored somewhere safe. Anyone with your password and a recovery code can sign in as you.
Lost your authenticator and recovery codes

Turn it off
Select Turn off under Two-step verification and confirm it's you. We email you whenever two-step verification is turned on or off.
