Test your integration
How test keys work during the beta, and where to rehearse payments before you go live.
402pay is in beta, and test keys work a little differently from what you may be used to. Here's what to expect.
Test keys during the beta
Test and live keys act on the same business. A test key can read everything, but it can't create payments or checkouts, or change what customers see or pay, so it never moves real money. Those requests answer that test mode isn't available yet.
Use test keys to build and check your reads, and live keys for anything that takes a payment.
Rehearse a payment
- Pay a small real payment yourself, end to end. See accept your first payment.
- Send a test event to your webhook endpoint to check your handler.
- Read the testing guide for every outcome a payment can have, and how to rehearse them.
Before you go live
Work through the going live checklist: restricted keys, a verified webhook, two-step verification on, and your recovery phrase backed up. Creating keys and endpoints asks you to confirm it's you if you haven't in the last 15 minutes.
